Cloud Migration and Modernization Services for Indian Enterprises

Quick answer

Cloud migration and modernization is the work of physically moving servers, databases, files and applications into AWS, Azure or Google Cloud, and making the changes needed for them to run well there. NTSPL builds the landing zone, runs migrations in planned waves with rehearsed cutovers in Indian regions, and closes each programme with a 90-day optimization phase against the business case.

Cloud Transformation

Cloud Migration & Modernization at a Glance

This family covers the build phase of a cloud programme: the period after the decision to move has been made and before steady-state operations begin. It spans 12 capabilities, from emptying a colocation cage and converting VMware clusters to switching a multi-terabyte Oracle database in a minutes-long window or refactoring an app off MSMQ. Each page is a distinct engagement with its own method, tools and measures, and most programmes use four to six of them together.

NTSPL's migration work follows three rules across all of them. The foundation is built before production workloads arrive. Every move is rehearsed and has a named rollback point. And a migration is not closed until source systems are decommissioned and the first cloud bills match the business case. We deliver on AWS Mumbai and Hyderabad, Azure Central India, South India and West India, and Google Cloud Mumbai and Delhi.

Four Workstreams in a Cloud Migration Programme

Move the estate

Facility exits, hypervisor conversions, workload-led rehosts, file and archive moves, and switches between hyperscalers. These engagements carry servers and data across with rack-aligned or cluster-aligned waves, preserved permissions and tested rollbacks, and they end with hardware wiped, contracts released and source accounts closed.

Move and adapt applications

Same-engine database moves with change data capture, replatforming onto managed runtimes with configuration-only changes, and bounded refactoring for apps whose code blocks cloud hosting. Each has a strict scope rule so migration-time change does not grow into a rewrite that belongs in a modernization programme.

Run the programme

The landing zone that workloads land in, the migration factory that sets wave cadence and throughput, and the cutover and hypercare discipline for business-critical go-lives. These are the mechanics that decide whether a 400-server programme takes six months or three years.

Close the gap to the business case

A fixed 90-day phase after the last wave that removes migration residue such as replication servers and staging disks, right-sizes VMs copied from on-prem, corrects disk tiers, applies licence benefits and sizes the first commitments, then hands a clean cost and performance baseline to operations.

What a Finished Migration Should Show

●Source facilities and servers retired — Racks, hosts and accounts are decommissioned within 30 days of their last wave, so double running ends on schedule.
●Cutover downtime within the agreed window — Rehearsed runbooks keep most workload cutovers between 15 and 60 minutes and database switches under 30.
●First 90-day bill within 10% of the business case — Post-migration optimization removes residue and oversizing that typically inflate the first bills by 20-40%.
●Foundation ready before production arrives — Accounts or subscriptions, identity, network, guardrails and 180-day in-country logging are in place before the first production wave.

How NTSPL Migrates onto AWS, Azure and Google Cloud

AWS →

On AWS, NTSPL uses Control Tower with Landing Zone Accelerator for the foundation, Application Migration Service for server and VMware moves, AWS Transform for VMware wave planning, Database Migration Service with native backup seeding, and DataSync for file data, with Mumbai as primary and Hyderabad for in-country recovery.

Microsoft Azure →

On Azure, NTSPL builds on Azure Landing Zones, uses Azure Migrate for VMware, Hyper-V and physical servers, Azure Database Migration Service and Managed Instance link for SQL Server, Azure File Sync for branch file shares, and Azure Hybrid Benefit to carry existing Windows Server and SQL Server licences into Central India and South India.

Google Cloud →

On Google Cloud, NTSPL starts from the Terraform foundation blueprint with organisation policies and VPC Service Controls, uses Migration Center for inventory, Migrate to Virtual Machines for VMware, AWS and Azure sources, Database Migration Service for MySQL, PostgreSQL and SQL Server, and Storage Transfer Service for file archives into Mumbai and Delhi.

Cloud Migration & Modernization: Frequently Asked Questions

Which migration services does a typical programme need?

A mid-size programme of 150-400 servers usually combines a landing zone, server or VMware migration, database migration, a migration factory for wave cadence, cutover planning for the five or six critical systems, and post-migration optimization. Replatforming or refactoring is added for the 10-20% of apps that justify it.

How is migration different from cloud assessment?

Assessment decides what should move, where and why, and produces reports, scores and a roadmap. Migration builds and executes: it creates the landing zone, replicates servers and data, runs cutovers and decommissions sources. If you do not yet know your target cloud or 6R treatment per app, start with assessment.

Do you migrate onto one cloud or several?

Most clients migrate to one primary cloud, chosen on commercial and skills grounds. We also run cloud-to-cloud moves and support deliberate multi-cloud setups where each workload has a home cloud. We avoid accidental multi-cloud, where two half-used landing zones double the operating effort.

How long does a full migration programme take?

For 100-300 servers, 5-8 months from landing zone to last wave is typical, followed by a 90-day optimization phase. Larger estates run longer, but velocity, not size, sets the end date, which is why we track throughput weekly once the factory is running.

How do you keep migrations compliant with Indian regulations?

Workloads land in Indian regions, logs are kept 180 days in India for CERT-In, and incident paths support its 6-hour reporting rule. We map personal data for DPDP Act 2023 accountability, and for RBI, SEBI or IRDAI regulated entities we align controls and outsourcing records to the relevant framework.

What happens after the migration ends?

We hand over a clean estate: IaC repositories, runbooks, a cost baseline per application and remaining recommendations. Ongoing operations, such as monitoring, patching, backup and cost management, move to your team or to a managed cloud service, which NTSPL also offers.
